Truck Enterprises, Inc.

Lynchburg, Virginia

Architectural Partners (AP) was contracted to design a new Lynchburg facility to house Truck Enterprises new and used heavy truck dealership, administrative offices, trucker’s rest area, state-of-the-art service and maintenance area, parts distribution warehouse, and retail showroom.  The owner requested that the new design establish an updated appearance for this and future facilities to follow, and use cost and time efficient construction.

Located at the high profile intersection of US Routes 29 and 460, the new one level facility is the center of Truck Enterprise’s Central Virginia operations housing dealership and service for new Kenworth and Volvo heavy trucks, as well as used truck sales, parts supply, and service.  A pre-engineered metal building structure was selected for the approximately 7,000 SF parts warehouse/distribution center and the 20,000 SF 16 bay maintenance and service area.  These spaces required high volume, and open construction, to allow a large bridge crane to access all 16 bays.  The 6,000 SF “L” shaped administration and business offices are enclosed with an integral color masonry veneer and metal stud wall system.  Vibrant, pre-finished metal panels were used for architectural fenestration at canopies and entrances.  The construction process chosen by AP allowed the project to be designed and constructed in a 16 month time frame and within a constrained $3.75 million dollar total project budget.
